Atlas AI Store Builder Review (2026): $39 Plus Usage, and What Happens When You Leave

Atlas started life as Dropshipt, which is still its handle in the Shopify App Store, and has grown into one of the most-reviewed AI builders there. Its pitch: paste product links, get pages that sell, and stop paying for separate bundle and upsell apps.
The pitch mostly holds. The price is less simple than it looks, and leaving takes more care than installing. This review covers both.
How we reviewed it: this is a research review, built from Atlas's website, pricing page and help center, its Shopify App Store listing (371 reviews) and Trustpilot, all checked in September 2026. We have not run our own hands-on test yet; when we do, the results go into this review. We have no affiliate deal with Atlas.
One thing to know first: since 25 February 2026, Atlas no longer creates or installs a theme. Many reviews online, including ones that mention an "Atlas Bolt theme", describe the old product.
The verdict first
Choose Atlas if you want product pages, advertorials and a home page from product links, and want bundles, quantity breaks and cart upsells from the same app. For a store that already gets orders, having the average-order-value tools built in is the real value.
Skip it if you want one predictable price (DropMagic is a flat $79 to publish), a whole branded store with About, FAQ and legal pages (DropMagic again), or real page A/B testing (Instant).
How Atlas works
- Install and approve. Shopify's approval screen shows a $600 cap. That is a ceiling on usage charges, not a charge. A 7-day trial is included.
- Create a project. A project holds your customer research (you can upload documents), a style reference and personas. It is a good idea: the copy gets better when Atlas knows who you sell to.
- Paste product links. Amazon, Etsy, Shopify, AliExpress, Alibaba or "any website", or pick products from your own catalog. Up to 20 products per build. Importing from a link creates a real Shopify product.
- Pick a mode.
- Product page: about two minutes.
- Full store: a home page plus product pages, in several minutes.
- Landing pages: advertorials and listicles, the formats that work well for cold ad traffic.
- Page variations: new selling angles or translations of an existing page.
- Choose a template: your theme's own product template, the Atlas library, "let Atlas decide", or a competitor's page as a reference.
- Edit in Atlas's section editor: copy, images, blocks, colours, hide or reset sections, with desktop and mobile previews.
- Publish. Atlas uploads the template files, creates theme sections and publishes the page in under a minute, via its app embed. You can publish to a theme that isn't live yet.
Watch out: publishing replaces the existing page for that product on the chosen theme, including your manual edits. Publish to a duplicate theme first.
Bundles and the cart drawer
This is where Atlas earns its "replaces dozens of apps" line.
- Bundle Deals: quantity breaks, free gifts, progressive gifts, countdown timers, subscriptions and an AI offer wizard. Each bundle uses one of Shopify's 25 automatic discounts.
- Cart drawer: upsells, AI product recommendations, a reward bar, shipping protection and an announcement bar.
- Real A/B testing for bundles and the cart drawer, with traffic splits. Page "angle tests" are variations, not A/B tests.
- Limits: one bundle app and one cart app per store, and cash-on-delivery or one-page checkout apps bypass Atlas discounts.
Pages can be generated in 11 languages and variations translated into 20. Integrations include Judge.me reviews and the Facebook Pixel.
No product research: "market research" in Atlas means analysing the product you paste plus your own customer research. It does not suggest products. For that, use the 30-minute routine.
Pricing (checked September 2026)
Base plan: $39/month, 7-day trial, free on development stores. Included:
- published pages: 5 according to the website, 10 according to the help center;
- $1,000 of added bundle revenue;
- 250 cart orders.
Above the caps, monthly surcharges apply per category:
| Category | Tiers | Surcharge per month |
|---|---|---|
| Published pages | up to 15 / 25 / 50 / 75 / 100 / unlimited | +$10 / 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 / 70 |
| Bundle revenue | up to $2.5k / 5k / 10k / 20k / 35k / 50k / more | +$10 / 20 / 35 / 65 / 110 / 150 / 195 |
| Cart orders | up to 500 / 1k / 2k / 3.5k / 5k / more | +$10 / 20 / 30 / 60 / 100 / 150 |
The maximum bill is $454/month. Two details that matter:
- A full-store build counts every page it creates, and deleting a page does not lower that month's count. Test with single product pages if you are near the cap.
- The "$1 for 90 days" offer on Atlas's site is Shopify's promotion for new Shopify accounts, not an Atlas discount.
In fairness: surcharges grow with bundle revenue and orders, so a high bill usually means the store is selling. Atlas's own affiliate rules even ask partners to describe it as "$39 plus usage, not a flat fee". Just budget for it.
What users praise and complain about
Atlas scores 4.6 out of 5 on the Shopify App Store from 371 reviews (85% five-star, 6% one-star) and 4.9 on Trustpilot from 372 reviews. The one-star share is the highest of the four builders we compared.
What people like:
- Fast support from staff named in many reviews.
- Beginner-friendly and quick to launch.
- Clean pages that convert.
- Bundles and upsells built in instead of bought separately.
- Refunds given without fuss when asked.
What people complain about:
- Charges after uninstalling or cancelling, the dominant theme in the one-star reviews through August 2026. Shopify bills apps in arrears, so a final charge after you leave is normal; Atlas says it cannot void an invoice, only refund once it has been charged.
- Support that is hard to find when something goes wrong.
- Broken or replaced home pages and Atlas elements left behind after uninstalling.
- Generic AI copy that needs heavy editing; font changes need CSS.
- Bugs, such as a sticky add-to-cart showing the wrong variant price, bundle glitches and conflicts with other page builders. One merchant lost three weeks of edits.
The developer replies to roughly half of the one-star reviews with an apology and a direct email address; many billing complaints have no reply.
How to leave Atlas cleanly
Uninstalling Atlas does not clean your theme, and pages stay online with a subscription notice for your shoppers. If you ever cancel, do it in this order:
- Build replacement pages first, especially for any page your ads point to.
- Switch your theme back or republish your own product templates.
- Turn off the app embeds: Atlas Page Builder and Atlas Cart Upsells (Online Store → Themes → Customize → App embeds).
- Remove the Atlas Bundler block from your product templates.
- Delete leftover automatic discounts. They count toward Shopify's limit of 25 and can keep applying at checkout.
- Then uninstall, and expect one final charge in arrears. Cancelling during the trial costs nothing but ends the trial immediately.
The same advice applies to every builder in this category: work on a duplicate theme, and write down what you installed.
Claims to take with salt
- "Launch a store in 2 minutes": that is one product page. A full store takes several minutes plus editing.
- "$39/month": a base price, not a flat fee.
- 10K+ stores, $250M+ revenue, 8.3M hours saved: no method given.
- "Replaces dozens of apps": it replaces a page builder, a bundle app and a cart app. That is valuable, but it is three.
Atlas alternatives
- PagePilot: one product page per link, from $39/month flat, with daily product ideas. Read our PagePilot review.
- DropMagic: a whole branded store from one link, $79/month to publish. Read our DropMagic review.
- Instant: a designer-grade page builder with real page A/B testing. Read our Instant review.

Questions we actually get
How much does Atlas cost?→
The base plan is $39/month with a 7-day trial, free on Shopify development stores. It includes a capped number of published pages (5 on the website, 10 in the help center), $1,000 of added bundle revenue and 250 cart orders. Above those caps, monthly surcharges apply in tiers, from $10 up to a maximum total bill of $454/month. The '$1 for 90 days' offer on Atlas's site is Shopify's own promotion for new Shopify accounts, not an Atlas discount.
Does Atlas install a theme?→
Not any more. Since 25 February 2026 Atlas builds pages and theme sections inside your existing theme instead of installing its own. Reviews that describe the 'Atlas Bolt theme' refer to the old product. Stores that installed the theme before that date keep it.
What happens to my pages if I cancel Atlas?→
According to Atlas's help center, published pages still load but show shoppers a subscription notice, and bundles and the cart drawer stop working. Build replacement pages before you cancel, especially if ads point at Atlas pages, and remove the app embeds, bundle blocks and leftover discounts afterwards.
Does Atlas have A/B testing?→
For bundles and the cart drawer, yes: real traffic splits. For pages, no. Atlas's 'angle tests' let you create page variations with different selling angles, but its own help center says they are not A/B tests.
Atlas or DropMagic?→
Atlas if you want product pages plus bundles and cart upsells in one app and a lower starting price. DropMagic if you want a whole branded store (logo, colours, About, FAQ and legal pages) from one link, at a flat $79/month to publish.
